Juliette Hurel

First Prize in flute at the Paris Conservatoire and winner of many international competitions, she was awarded « Révélation soliste instrumental » at the French Victoires de la Musique in 2004. Juliette Hurel is established herself as an important flutist on the international stage.

She has been invited worldwide, to give chamber music recitals at the Cité de la Musique, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées de Paris, the Grand Théâtre de Provence, the London Wigmore Hall, au Concertgebouw in Amsterdam… with prestigious musicians like Gary Hoffman, Truls Mork, Youri Bashmet, Schlomo Mintz, Philippe Graffin, Marielle Nordmann, Emmanuel Pahud, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Claire Désert, Stephen Kovacevich, le Trio Wanderer, Scharoun Ensemble Berlin…

She also performed in numerous festivals such as the Festival International de la Roque d’Anthéron, the Folles Journées in Nantes, in Tokyo, and in Bilbao, the Festival de la Meije, the Festival International in Colmar, the Holland Festival… And she collaborated with prestigious formations like the Orchestre d’Auvergne, the Orchestre de chambre de Toulouse, the Orchestre de Bretagne, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen, the Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Nancy, « Les Siècles », the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

And she has recently been a guest of the Montreal Orchestre Métropolitain and of the BBC Orchestra of Wales.

Her rich discography includes albums with pianist Hélène Couvert which received prizes and praises from the critics: Martinů/Prokofiev for Lyrinx, 20th century French Music for Flute for Naïve-Valois, and for Zig-Zag Territoires: the Haydn sonatas, C.P.E. Bach’s fulte concerto with the Orchestre National d’Auvergne (with conductor Arie Van Beek) and her last album, « Impressions françaises, published in 2011 and awarded « RTL d’Or.»

Since 1998, Juliette Hurel has been the solo flutist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, firstly under the direction of Valery Gergiev and since 2008, Under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. She is also a teacher at the Rotterdam Conservatoire.
